Cullinan Underground Mine Tour

Activity Description

The Cullinan Diamond Mine is renowned as a source of large, high-quality gem diamonds, including Type II stones, as well as being the world’s most important source of very rare blue diamonds.

Many of the world’s most famous diamonds herald from Cullinan, and it continues to produce world-class diamonds under Petra’s stewardship.

The Cullinan orebody contains a major diamond resource of 195 Mcts, suggesting a potentially long life for the operation of +50 years.
Come and enjoy with us exclusive surface and underground tours of the working Cullinan Diamond Mine.

This mine has produced some of the world’s largest high quality gemstones and is the home of the world’s largest diamond – the Cullinan (3106 ct).

Recently, a number of record braking blue diamonds have been found including a 122.52 carat diamond which achieved a value of US$ 27.6 million in 2014.

Customer Reviews

It was a great experience, I appreciate the comments from our guide and the time spent underground. It is the unique opportunity to see a mine in operating conditions. I would recommend this tour to my friends. Advice: Take care for the security shoes which are not confortable .... - Pierrette Denis

Our guide was fantastic -- he had been a mine captain and worked in the mines for 40 years. He had lots of very interesting stories. We were also able to experience (from a very safe distance) some blasting and see some mining activity (the transport and dumping of some ore). My only disappointment was not being able to buy a sample a Kimberlite -- I am a rock collector and was very surprised that I could not bring back even a small of kimberlite. - Edward Coyle

It was a very interesting experience, I have never been underground in a real deep distance. I really enjoyed it and my friends as well. - Miguel Marquez

Breath-taking experience indeed - Sydney Sekese

I enjoyed the tour but it would have been better if it was In operation and things were happening. I presume it’s better going in the week when it’s working to get a better insight. I don’t have photos because I didn’t know that you can only take a camera. You can’t take your phone with not even in aeroplane mode sounds I have no photos of my experience!! - Tracey Ribeiro
